A: Fast Mode：scan data is made of many clustered points.

     Advantage: low computer requirement, fast scanning.

    Characteristic: lower data density, less even details.

    Quality Mode： scan data is made of many small triangles stitched together.

    Advantage: much more details, higher data density, smoother and more refined scan.

    Characteristic: higher computer requirement.

Summary: Fast mode is suitable for average computers and emphasizes speed;                                      Quality mode is best for powerful computers and emphasizes high precision and smooth scanning. So visually, if your computer has the right performance, scanning in Quality mode will look smoother and  give you a nicer result.
